Kabi Kabi Land Title

The Kabi Kabi people, also known as the Gubbi Gubbi, have been awarded native title over a significant area of land in Queensland. On April 18, 2024, the Federal Court of Australia recognized their native title claim, which had been in process since it was lodged in 2018. This determination acknowledges their rights to possess, occupy, and use their traditional lands covering approximately 11,500 square kilometers, including parts of the Sunshine Coast and regions from north of Brisbane to Bundaberg [[❞]](https://www.kabikabination.com.au/) [[❞]](https://www.sandybolton.com/native-title-and-land-rights-a-summary-of-the-basics/) [[❞]](https://www.ma-lawyers.com.au/feedzy_import_posts/douglas-on-behalf-of-the-kabi-kabi-first-nation-traditional-owners-native-title-claim-group-v-state-of-queensland-no-2-2024-fca-385-18-april-2024/).
