While there are no overt political or military engagements, China’s relationship in the region focuses on mutual benefit through economic diplomacy, with an emphasis on non-interference and respect for sovereignty.

3. Middle East:
China has increasingly played a diplomatic role in the Middle East, maintaining a balance between regional powers. Notably, China brokered a significant peace deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran in March 2023, marking a major diplomatic success and showcasing China’s influence as a peace facilitator in the region.

China also maintains close relations with Israel and has invested in infrastructure projects across the Middle East, including ports and energy infrastructure.

The country’s stance in the region emphasizes economic development and non-intervention, which aligns with its broader diplomatic strategy.

4. Ukraine:
China has taken a more cautious approach regarding the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. While China has refrained from openly criticizing Russia, it has also positioned itself as a potential peace broker. China presented a 12-point peace plan in February 2023, advocating for a ceasefire and peace talks.

Though the West is skeptical of China’s neutrality due to its close ties with Russia, China’s proposal calls for respecting the territorial integrity of all countries, implying a balanced stance toward the conflict.

Overall, China’s approach to fostering peaceful relations is deeply tied to its global ambitions, emphasizing economic development, non-interference in domestic politics, and diplomatic engagement. Its actions in Africa, South America, the Middle East, and Ukraine are driven by a combination of geopolitical strategy and efforts to position itself as a global leader in international diplomacy.
